“This is the marquee of my alma mater junior high in Edmond, OK. It’s named after the Cherokee figure who developed a writing system for his tribe before moving to Indian Territory (present day eastern Oklahoma). I can remember in the first week of school here the teachers and administration made sure I knew how to spell his name correctly as well as how to tell his story correctly. Go Cougars!”
